Discover the casual elegance of a sophisticated Bahamas resort on the exotic Out Island of Cat. Rolling hills, dense woodlands and isolated beaches cover Cat Island’s 150 square miles. The island impresses visitors in a way only natural vast emptiness can. Cat Island is just 48 miles long and averages between one to four miles in width, The Bahamas Resort Fernandez Bay Village sits on a picturesque bay surrounded by one of the most spectacular beaches in the world.
With an enviable location, opening onto Fernandez Bay, this is the island's best resort. Although rustic, it has a certain charm, mainly because of its position on a curvy beach set against casuarinas blowing in the trade winds. The beach (or anywhere else, for that matter) is never crowded, so come here only if you really want to get away from it all; this place is far too laid-back for full hotel service. Things get done, but it takes time - and no one's in a hurry.
The Bahamas Resort Fernandez Bay Village has been in the Armbrister family since it was originally established on a plantation in 1870. Its rusticity and seclusion are part of its charm, and yet, if you wish, you can get acquainted with other guests with similar interests. The Bahamas Resort consists of full housekeeping beach villas, each of which sleeps up to six people, as well as five double-occupancy seaside cottages, all built of stone, driftwood, and glass. Each unit comes with a private garden bathroom with a shower stall.
Bahamas Resort Amenities Include:
Unspoiled white sand beaches and coconut palm provide a tropical setting for the 16 beach villas and seaside cottages at the water's edge. Whether relaxing in a hammock, swimming, snorkeling or kayaking, the bays natural, spacious setting provides a sense of space hard to find today. The beach villas and seaside cottages, constructed of native stone and tile, feature open patios which overlook the sea, garden showers and comfy pillow top beds.
Bahamas food is served in a clubhouse decorated with antiques and Haitian art. This clubhouse, which opens onto a view of the beach and sea, also features a sitting library area, a stone fireplace, and overhead fans.
